'Southdown' farmstead is shown on OS 25" map as a large squarish building with several small buildings adjoining to the south. A large rectilinear yard is shown to the south with buildings on the west & east sides.

Southdown farm is shown but not named on the OS 2" (1809) map. The buildings are largely 19C with a datestone on the farmhouse reading 'Erected by SEP 1837). The initials standing for Sarah Elizabeth Prideaux who was recorded as the owner in the Tithe Map Apportionement. A few of the farm buildings including a bank barn, cowshed & stable are of late 18C or early 19C type.
