Jenkinson, T., 2005 - 2008, A386 Tavistock to Okehampton (Report - Survey). SDV323813.

Site visit 6th August 2004. Milestone outside entrance to Hurdwick Farm, on west side of road on grass verge beside left hand wall. Next to metal 'T UD T RD'. The numbers of the legend, '1 T 175? 16 O ?' are worn. The edges of the stone are chipped and it is leaning. T = Tavistock, O = Okehampton. Dates from c. 1755. Not on A386. Grid reference given as SX47326 75798.
Also at Hurdwick Farm is a Take Off stone dating from c.1755. It is out of context and probably came from the top of the hill out of Tavistock to Lydford. It is of granite with an iron gatehook in the face. A take off stone signalled the point at which extra horses attached to carriages to help climb the hill had to be removed
