A rectangular structure circa 5m wide and 13m long and a footing or base for a second slightly longer structure are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 along the hedge line on the south-east facing slopes west of Hitchcombe.
It is possible that the structures are associated with a Second World War searchlight emplacement recorded in this location.
No other features typically associated with searchlight emplacements, such as a circular earthwork to house the searchlight projector or a Light Anti-Aircraft machine gun emplacement, are visible on the sources available to the survey, but these may have comprised superficial features.
The structure bases remain visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016.
