Full description
Exeter Archaeology, 2003, East Devon Heathlands Archaeological Survey, 16, Part 1; 103, Part 2: Gazetteer, Site No. 327 (Report - Survey). SDV101648.
Within wooded area to east of trackway is broad linear gully aligned approximately northeast-southwest. Feature 1.5 metres deep by up to 10 metres wide where seen. Appears to be a quarried feature, and there is some loose white stone (?limestone) on the surface. Gully contains water in some places, and may have been enlarged by water erosion. Immediately opposite, on west side of trackway, linear hollow aligned northeast-southwest circa 10 metres by circa 6 metres by circa 0.75 metre deep. Probably also due to quarrying. No features shown in this position on Ordnance Survey 1890 1:10560 map (Sheet 59NW).
