On Quantock Common a house and orchard, owned by the Stockland Church Wardens, is shown on the Stockland Tithe Map/Apportionment (plot 1859). The site lay within the north-east corner of the enclosed area (then divided into five plots) now occupied by Featherlake. By 1890 the house is no longer shown (Ordnance Survey 1:10560 59NW) and a new house marked Higher Place is shown to the south, representing the current Featherlake. The enclosed area was excluded from the survey area.
