Full description

Clements, H. A., Report on Buildings at Risk in the Devon Part of the Blackdown Hills, 99 (Report - non-specific). SDV344049.

Building in fair condition. Not at risk.

Large L-shaped building shown on OS 25" (1880s) map which was extended to the south by 1906. Other details: Also on OS 25" (1906) map.

Tolcis House 15C/16C hall house, floored and with later alterations. Coursed stone with slate roof with gabled ends. Two storeys. Three window range. 19C sashes and doorway to right hand with modern conservatory. Late 19C roughcast gabled wing to right hand (east). Brick ridge chimney stacks. Interior: three jointed cruck trusses to central hall, now floored. Centre ground floor room has heavily moulded ceiling beams and chamfered wooden fireplace bressummer. Heavy chamfered ceiling beam in south west end.
