Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.
Milestone marked as 'M.S. Dartmouth 9/Kingsbridge 6' on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map.

Date of survey: 5th August 2004. Milestone situated about 50 metres west of entrance to Stokeley Farm Shop. On grass verge under hedge on north side of road. Worn with a chunk missing from the face which interferes with the legend, 'To/Kingsbe/6/To ??rtmo/9/'. One of a remarkable run of milestones between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The Kingsbridge and Dartmouth Trust was founded in 1759 but the extant milestones are probably of 19th century date.
