Monument Type(s) and Dates

  • OBSERVATION POST (XX - 1901 AD to 2000 AD (Between))

Full description

Wood, K., 1976, Attack Warning Red, 285 (Monograph). SDV143823.

ROC post opened in July 1940 but both Wood and Dobinson place the original site at SS577745 which is far out into the Bristol Channel. Maybe a typo of current coordinates (SS574475)?

Dobinson, C. S., 2000, Twentieth Century Fortifications in England Vol. XI.1 & XI.2: The Cold War, 201 (Report - non-specific). SDV324255.

Site of Royal Observer Corps post. In use untill December 1952 then resited to SS584452 (PRN:72231).
