Full description

Substantial linear bank up to 4m wide x c1m high was identified during the survey on Mutter's Moor in 2003. The feature was traced from SY10378834 to SY10398854 & may represent a former boundary. The present north to south track in the area appears to be further west than shown on the OS 6" (1891) map & the banks may mark the earlier position. Bracken had been cut down to ground level in this area.
