Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Site of a U-shaped farmstead shown on OS 25" (1880s & 1906) maps in an orchard to the northwest of 'Sand Barton' with a rectangular building to the north of the northwest corner.

At Sand there is a thatched stone barn with a tablet on the end gable with the date 1604. It is now converted.

Fisher, J., 1999, East Devon Conservation Area Appraisals: Sidbury, 10 (Report - non-specific). SDV346859.

Sand Barton, half a mile north-east of Sidbury, is first mentioned circa 1175, and the present house is a beautiful example of a small stone built Tudor Manor.
