Full description

1. A portion of the walls is the remains of an ancient manor house.
2. At about 1800 two cottages occupied the site, which has always been known as Manor grounds.
3. The house was probably built soon after 1800, with Victorian additions. The area is known as Manor - or Manorial Grounds.
4. Site visit on 13th December 1952: The building appears modern, and is now used as offices for Kingsbridge Rural District Council. In view of supporting evidence this alledged manor house should be deleted from Ordnance Survey plans.
5. Manor House demolished in 1978, new works depot being built on site (27/08/81)..

Approval has been given for a new works depot to be built on the site of Manor House, the headquarters of the former Kingsbridge District Council, which was demolished last week. Other details: Scrapbook 5.
