Full description

Passmore, A. J., 2005, Archaeological recording in the graveyard of the church of St Mary, Ottery St Mary, Fig 2 (Report - Watching Brief). SDV336583.

A watching brief undertaken in 2005 during the excavation of six pits around St Mary's parish church exposed a grave containing a tomb outside the southeast corner of the church. The tomb was for Captain Jeffery R. N. who died in 1885 & other members of his family. The lower part of the tomb was constructed of brick with a slate capping topped by a limestone ledger supported on brick.
