Full description

Sundial in the formal garden to the south of Dawlish College (Mamhead House). Sundial. Contemporary with Mamhead House (now Dawlish College), designed 1827-1833 by Anthony Salvin for Sir R.W. Newman, Bt.. Bathstone. Jacobean style. Pierced stone pedestal, shaped rather like a massive Jacobean pendant. Carved text in Gothic lettering round dial 'aeternitas abhor momento perdet'. Metal dial signed Houghton and Simms, London. Part of the formal garden south of Mamhead House. Other details: LBS No 85977.
