Full description

Exeter Archaeology, 2006, Archaeological assessment of Barton Farm, Monkleigh, North Devon, 6-7 (Report - Assessment). SDV337524.

Range of farm buildings (Buildings 3-6 & Building 8) to the west of Barton Farm house. The buildings mostly of stone rubble with some cob at first floor level. Buildings 3-5 & Building 8 appear to be shown on the 1840 Tithe Map & the 1887 map. Buildings 3 & 4 have 20th century low single storey concrete lean-to structure on the east sides. Building 5 has a stone rubble extension to the east which is on the site of a circular horse engine house & a modern concrete extension to the west. Building 6 is a large modern concrete shed on the west side of Building 4. Other details: Figs 3-7 & Plates 6-8.
