A large approximately circular earthwork depression circa 50m across is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depression is situated within a plot recorded as 'Pit Orchard' in the Tithe Survey. It corresponds with an 'Old Marl Pit' depicted within an orchard on the First Edition OS map and subsequent maps until the mid-20th century. The depression is interpreted as a marl pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased operation prior to circa 1840, after which it was established as an orchard.
