Two irregular shaped earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The west depression is circa 75m by 45m and the east depression is circa 60m by 50m. They are situated within a plot recorded as 'Pit Orchard' in the Tithe Survey. They correspond with depicted 'Old Clay Pits' on the First Edition OS map and on subsequent maps, where the plot is no longer depicted as an orchard. The depressions are interpreted as clay pits of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840.
