A narrow curvilinear ditch, circa 1.5 metres wide, that forms an almost complete circular enclosure, circa 25 metres diameter, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
The earthwork does not correspond with any features in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, although four circular enclosures (land parcels 1428,1429, 1430 and 1431) all recorded as ‘Clump’ are depicted in proximity to the north. A single tree and a circular enclosure are, however, depicted in this exact location on the late 19th century and early 20th century First and Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps, respectively.
This supports the interpretation that the earthwork is a 19th century tree enclosure ring associated with Lifton Park (MDV64758).
The earthwork is not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to tree cover.

Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 472.05 (Interpretation). SDV363949.

A tree ring enclosure. Google Earth shows trees still growing over the site. Visible on both Lidar and SX-LRM3 data. Part of a possible group of five similar features.
