'Scorlinch Farm' above 'River Clyst', on east side, marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, comprising barns, linhays and stables to east, north and west of farmhouse.

Scorlinch Farm is referred to as 'Shorelenche' in 1420. The first element, 'shore' means steep. The farm is on a slope above the Clyst river.
