Full description

Department of Environment, 1952, Clyst St Lawrence (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV338191.

Linhay approximately 3 metres south-east of Scorlinch Farmhouse. Late 18th - early 19th century. Cob on stone rubble footings with some brick patching particularly at the west end; corrugated asbestos roof, formerly thatch. Open-fronted linhay facing north. It is 6 bays. The right (western) 4 bays is a linhay with tallet/hayloft over whilst the left 2 bays are full height and probably used as a cartshed. It is Alcock's type T1 linhay with full height timber posts. The tallet/hayloft crossbeams are roughly chamfered with runout stops and are tusk-tenoned through the front posts. The outer principals of the roof trusses are supported on the posts. The roof is made up of A-frame trusses with spiked lap-jointed collars and they have carpenter's assembly marks. Other details: LBS 86799.
