Full description

Crooks, K. + Oakey, N. J., 2006, Bradley Lane and Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot: Excavations and Watching Briefs: Parts One & Two (Report - Excavation). SDV338205.

Hearth located during excavation prior to redevelopment to the north of Wolborough Street in 2006. The hearth consisted of an area of burning 1.5 metres diameter with a number of associated large flat stones. Pottery of Totnes-type coarse ware and Exeter type jugs dating to the 13th or 14th century were recovered from an associated context. The hearth was 150 metres to the west of other areas of activity at the time suggesting an industrial or processing site.
