'North Hele' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, comprising two closely associated ranges of buildings with additional separate structures, well, pump and orchard.

Wessex Archaeology, 2007, Historic Environment Audit of Devon County Farms. Pilot Project. Results of North Hele Farm, Buckland Brewer, Bideford (Report - Assessment). SDV338478.

Historic environment audit of North Hele Farm undertaken by Conservation Management, a division of Wessex Archaeology, for Devon County Council. North Hele Farm is 1 of 93 farm holdings that make up Devon County Farms Estate. The farm currently covers an area of c35.6 hectares. The landscape is characterised by modern enclosures created out of probable medieval enclosures and broad leaved plantations. A number of field boundaries have disappeared since the time of the 1842 Tithe Map. Most of the farm buildings appear to date to a late 19th phase of redevelopment with a number bearing initialled date plaques. The threshing barn probably belongs to an earlier phase.
