A line of five posts and two signposts, running east to west over Five Ponds Ridge, is possibly part of the WWII bombing decoy for RAF Chivenor.
Visited 2009. Series of concrete posts 1m high and tapering up to 0.10 metre square. Each post has up to 7 wire-holes visible, so were designed as fence posts, but could have been used during WWII for a decoy airfield. The posts form a line and each is intervisible to the next post. Posts located at: 4545035873; 4552635878; 4557935885; 4539035866; 4535935862. To the south of the posts are obvious marker posts/boards and flagpole relating to the current MOD (Ministry of Defence) training area. Good condition.
