'Sleepers and Iron Bolts' located at SS4466335776 during fieldwork within Area 'D' of the World War II US Assault Training Centre on Braunton Burrows.

A 'sleeper' is annotated onto the Braunton Burrows Habitat Map.

Probably part of World War II activity - either the US Assault Training Centre or earlier defences.
Visited 2009. At NGR 244661135769 a partially buried sleeper and several fragments of wood are visible within a mound. Sleeper has an iron bolt and other wood fragments have holes with rust stains from removed bolts.
Poor condition. Wood largely rotten. Located adjacent to track used by military vehicles.
