A series of nine mounds identified in a north/south line from SS4498036510 to SS4498536439 in 2005 in Area 'D' of the World War II US Assault Training Centre on Braunton Burrows. Other details: Photograph.

There appears to be a concentration of defensive features at Corkscrew Slack. 'Mounds', 'Rubble', 'Shrapnel', 'Humps', 'Barbed wire posts' and 'debris' are annotated onto the Braunton Burrows Habitat Map.

Visited 2009. Central NGR 244976136474. Group of sand mounds no more than 2 metres high located within flat area within fenced part of site (note that easting of HER NGR lies to east of the mounds). No structural features or debris visible. The only feature on the mounds is a steel barbed-wire fence post (not in situ) on the top of the northern mound. At NGR 245005136469 is a piece of armoured plating from a military vehicle. The piece is 0.70 metre x 0.90 metre x 20 millimetres thick and contains rivet holes. The buried side of the feature has a curved edge and is bent (?damage).
