Milestone, inscribed 'Exeter 6 Miles' situated beside the old turnpike road in bank about 120m north of road junction, on west side of road. This is now a private drive to Newhall Equestrian Centre. At grave risk of loss in hedgerow. Part sunk in bank. Very worn. The old route between Exeter and Cullompton was by passed by the present B3181 in c1816. The surviving milestones between city and town are quite neglected and worn and may pre date this time. They are all characteristic Exeter Turnpike Stones. The 6 milestone near Newhall Equestiran Centre on a redundant section of road is significant as it confirms the bypassing of old roads.
