The Fox and Goose was used as a theatre from 1608, and was later converted for the purpose, becoming known as the mansion house or assembly rooms, now known as Grenville House. Alexandra Hall was built on Bideford quay in 1824 to replace it and had a capacity of 400, which is now the site of an amusement arcade.
