Full description

Exeter Archaeology, 2005, Archaeological Assessment (Revised) of proposed Wind Farm at Fullabrook, North Devon, 16 (Report - Assessment). SDV340799.

From the road to the east of Higher Metcombe, a trackway leads east across Swindon Down to the B3230 valley road. Although part of the track is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1890 6 inch map, it is likely it existed, as the section further to the east is shown. As Metcombe is of medieval origin, it is possible that this route down to the valley is early. Other details: Site 162.
