Blackberry Cottage (Formerly Listed as: 1-4 (consecutive). Early 19th century cottage with possible earlier origins and some later modernisation. Pebbledashed stone rubble; end and rear lateral stacks with brick chimneyshafts and some old pots; slate roof. Plan: Double-depth, 2 rooms wide with central passage and staircase. Exterior: 2 storeys with attics; symmetrical 3-window front. Central doorway contains a 20th century part-glazed door under a contemporary monopitch-roofed porch. Windows are horned 4-pane sashes with horizontal glazing bars. Central dormer with canted front contains 20th century casements without glazing bars under a hipped roof. Parallel roof is continuous with the roofs of the neighbouring cottages. Interior not inspected but likely to be of interest. The row of cottages at Ford are built at the head of an old creek which was the old mill pond, infilled in the early 19th century.
