House built in the mid 19th century. Roughcast stone rubble; end stacks with rendered chimneyshafts and old pots; hipped slate roof. Plan: Double-depth; originally built as a mirror plan with No.43, which has been demolished. Exterior: 3 storeys with attics; 3-window front. Plain string courses to each floor at sill level with bands below and flat pilaster at the left end; another band under the parapet coping, the whole effect to break the front into horizontal panels containing the windows. All front windows are 12-pane sashes, those on the first floor are taller than the others. Doorway recessed to right with plain flat stucco surround. Replacement 20th century part-glazed door. Front rises to parapet. Parallel roof with front flat-roofed dormer. Interior not inspected. The house is one of a good group of houses and shops from the second quarter of the 19th century alongside New Road (now Victoria Road) which was built in 1825 to enable, for the first time, horse-drawn carriages in and out of the town.
