Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map shows that the barn was once attached to another barn on its east end which had a horse engine house on the south side. The farm is shown as 'Whiteley Park'.

Planning application to convert stone and cob barn at Wheatley Park Farm. Large areas of cob, especially at the western end have been replaced with concrete blocks. Corrugated metal roof supported on timber 'A' frames. Cobbled floor with a drainage channel along half its length. Large area of cobbles around the entrance has been replaced with concrete. Stable door and windows are timber framed. Most of the windows are unglazed and covered with pvc sheeting. Floor joist which would have supported the upper floor in the western half of the barn are still in place. The plan shows the remains of a 'lean to' on the east end which is now derelict.
