Full description
Russell, P., 1950, The New Quay at Dartmouth (1584-1640), 284 (Article in Serial). SDV341025.
'John Plumleigh, Mayor of Dartmouth built this tomb 1577' is recorded on a stone table, 91.4 centimetres high, 'much like a churchyard tomb standing in a broad place by the sea'. It seems this stone marked the building of the 'New Rentes', a piece of ground pushed out into the harbour from the Lower Street line, north of Raleigh slip and now known as Spithead.
