Bittleford. Fields here are called Higher and Lower Clay Parks on the Apportionment, denoting the existence of medieval clay pits. Fine yellow ochreous clay with fine quartz sand and much dark green mica. When burnt it gives a coarse pink and greyish ware similar to fragments found on medieval sites in the parish.
