'Whitstone Cottage' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, a small building to the southeast of 'Higher Whitstone'.

The building appears to be multiphase, comprising an earlier structure with a cloam oven with an extension to the west which has window features similar to the Duke of Bedford features at the farmstead (late 19th, early 20th century). The earlier side has slate tiled walls and seems to be earth bound while the later part has ?lime bonding. The more recent side has been further altered with the insertion of other walls and some ?concrete repointing. This may be connected with mining activity nearby. The name of Whitstone dates back to the mid 17th century. Other details: Photos.
