Barrow's shipyard is said to have been beneath the cliff to the east of the buildings, and to have produced vessels of up to 35 tons. The 1886 Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map indicates a roofed structure here, although it appears to have been roofless by the 1905 re-survey. It was described in 1952 as a ruined stone building called Watchhouse, although another account refers to is as Waterhouse. A single north-facing coursed rubble wall survives, in which there is a single central window, but no indication of the presence of a return at either end was detected.
