Three ‘reverse-J’ shaped curvilinear banks between 7 metres and 12 metres in width and situated south of Welcombe are visible as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The banks do not correspond with any features depicted on historic maps, however they are parallel with depicted field boundaries. The historic landscape is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields.
The banks are interpreted as field boundaries of medieval origin that may have formed part of a strip field system, and that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
