Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1954, SX98SW1 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV342696.

The first Mamhead House was Elizabethan (1558-1603). This was torn down and a Georgian (1714-1830) house was built on the site. This too was torn down the site was marked with a tree which was still standing in 1963. The present Mamhead House was built in 1824.

Iron railings surrounding tree at crossroads to the west of St Thomas Church in Mamhead Park erected in the early 19th century (shown on 1839 tithe map). Iron railings with tall spike finials protecting a tree at the crossroads in the Park to Mamhead House. Other details: LBS Number 85982.
