Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Several fragments of field boundaries and several leats shown on 19th century map in a field to the north east of Fullaford.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Further fragmentery boundaries shown on early 20th century map.

National Monuments Record, 2007 - 2009, National Monuments Record Index incorporating Exmoor National Park National Mapping Programme for SS63NE (National Monuments Record Database). SDV343039.

A number of fragmented earthwork banks and leats are visible on aerial photographs in fields west of Fullaford, Brayford. The banks appear to be the remains of a Medieval or Post Medieval field system, while the leats may be associated either with the field system or with Fullaford Mill to the west. The enclosures formed by the banks are irregular and somewhat piecemeal, suggesting an earlier, Medieval origin. However, part of the system is depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map, suggesting it remained in use during the Post Medieval period. Other details: Monument Number 1489094.
