'West Yagland' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, comprising a small group of buildings.

Yagland is referred to as Yaggalond in 1320, Yaggelande in 1381 and Yeageland in 1566. The name may derive from Eagga's or Geagga's land.
