Summary

Full description
Turton, S. D. + Weddell, P. J., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV1854.
The devon and somerset railway company was formed in 1864 to establish this rail link between barnstaple and taunton. Originally broad gauge but converted to standard width in 1881. In 1901 the line was taken-over by the gwr and was closed in october 1966 (bone). Vis=-/9/1984 (griffiths) from south molton station westwards, railway line is also proposed line of ndlr 28. No rails, but embankments, bridges etc remain (griffiths). Vis=section between ss75052698 and ss76042684 lies within proposed development area (turton + weddell).
