Earthworks of a curvilinear bank which enclose a sub-circular mound are visible.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1958 - 1961, SX75SW6 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV343401.

Site visit 13th December 1961. 'A' consists of a circular bank 0.2 metres high, with a central mound, maximum height 0.5 metres. These features are on a high heathland and are heavily overgrown with gorse. This makes identification difficult but their form is suggestive of saucer barrows. The absence of analagous sites in this region makes such an assessment tentative.

Visited on 21st May 1983 with H. Quinnell. This site appears to be a low ring bank, approximate diameter 19 metres. The bank is now not continuous. The central 'mound' is of stones: now in a disturbed state and may in any case not be part of the monument. It appears to lie south of centre.

Department of National Heritage, 1996, Two Ring Cairns 330 Metres South-east of Coldharbour Cross (Schedule Document). SDV343403.

One of two ring cairns, aligned north west-south east, 3.5 kilometres north of the village of Loddiswell, on a hill to the west of the River Avon. The south-east ring cairn, with an overall diameter of 24 metres, is formed by a low bank 3 metres in width and circa.0.2 metres in height. The bank is most clearly visible on the inside. Within the ring and offset to the south of the centre, there is a low and uneven mound, 6 metres in diameter and cirxa 0.3 metres in height, which has a number of stones protruding through the turf, ranging in size from 20- 50 centimetres by 30 centimetres.

Generally unsatisfactory with major localised problems. Principal vulnerability dumping.

Earthworks of a curvilinear bank, circa 2.5m wide, which enclose a sub-circular mound, circa 12.5m diameter, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. Circular earthworks labelled as ‘Tumuli’ are shown here on the 2020 Ordnance Survey MasterMap. They are interpreted as a possible Bronze Age ring cairn or barrow.

Sub-circular earthworks are depicted in this location.
