South end of culvert passing under the Manager's House passes under the road between the south front of the building and the north end of the Old Dock. It is of slate rubble construction with a continuous three-centred arched vault. The side walls of the culvert abut the north arch, and the front wall of the building is constructed upon its crown, showing that the culvert existed before the construction of the east range between 1789 and 1803. Small repairs to south parapet wall of bridge were undertaken. Removal of the damaged upper course of masonry revealed that the south wall of the bridge, incorporating its arch over the stream, and the parapet wall, abuts an earlier quayside wall defining the edge of the canalised stream.
