The brewery was built in the 19th century and incorporated 57 Bampton Street, a 17th century house. The brewery was demolished in phases during the first half of the 20th century and the site taken over by the District Hospital. 57 Bampton Street was turned into nurses accommodation. Evaluation trenches on the site revealed walls and interior surfaces associated with the brewery buildings.
