At the time of the tithe survey in the 1840s the site under investigation comprised three fields, the largest of which was Broad Close. The only feature of archaeological importance is the surviving hedgebank that separated Broad Close from the field to the west, with its slight curve indicating its medieval origin. The bank may seal and preserve a buried soil, which may retain palaeoenvironmental material containing information of prehistoric date. Other details: Figures 1, 4 and 5.
