Farmstead dates to at least mid-16th or 17th century, based on the age of the farmhouse. The layout of the farm has remained broadly unchanged since the 1840s Tithe Map depiction. Recorded in the Dartmoor Historic farmstead survey (visited in 2004).

Northcoombe. 'Dwelling House and farm buildings' recorded. House is to the west, with three buildings to the east.

Northcombe is shown on the late 19th century historic map; matches the Tithe Map depiction.
