Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Tithe Map shows rectangular farmhouse and two other main agricultural buildings to the north of it. 1089 on the Chagford Apportionment.


Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Late 19th century historic map shows that the farmhouse is now an L-shaped building. Also, some new buildings appear to have been added at the northern end of the farm at this time.

Middlecott is ‘Midelcota’ in 1086, ‘Middelcote’ in 1238 and ‘Myddel-‘ in 1446.
