'Great Pitt Farm' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map comprising a triangular shaped yard with the farmhouse in the north-east corner and a long range of buildings down the west side including a horse-engine house. Orchards are shown to the north and west.

Great Pitt Farm was the home of Philip de Pytt in 1543.

The farm is situated on the springline at the head of a south-facing combe overlooking the Exe valley. The farmhouse, which incorporates the extensive remains of a late medieval hall house dating from the second half of the 15th or early 16th century, was built across the hillslope at the head of a wedge-shaped yard. There was a cattlshed to the west and a line of vernacular farm buildings along its southwest side including a barn and granary, linhay and stable. The farm buildings were converted to domestic use in the 1990s.
