Two sherds of late Roman amphorae recovered among medieval pottery from a pipe trench through Pigs Paradise. One is from a Late Roman 1 amphora sources to the eastern Mediterranean area and thought to be imported to Britain from cAD475-550. The other is also from a source in the eastern Mediterranean and is similar to those found at Bantham Sands and Tintagel. It is of similar date to the Late Roman 1 amphora. The two sherds are considered significant finds as they provide the first definite examples of Dark Age imported pottery from Lundy.
