Summary

Farmstead dates to at least the early-mid 16th century, based on documentary evidence. Mentioned in 1541, also in the mid-17th century documents ('Whitebery' and 'Whittabery'). Depicted on the 1840s Tithe Map, it was developed in the later 19th century. Farmstead survey in 1997 recorded the four buildings that remain today (2018).

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Shown on the Tithe map as 'Whitebury'. Three large buildings lie within the plot 1919; one at the south-western end of the plot, the remaining pair lie to the north of the plot.
Marked as 1919 on the transcription of the Apportionment; 'Houses, garden and offices' Higher Easton and Whiteaberry.

The farm has been developed by the later 19th century. Three buildings (including the farmhouse) shown on the late 19th century historic map depiction of the farm, which is not named on this version of the mapping.

Not labelled on the early 20th century historic map. One additional building shown since the late 19th century; narrow rectangular building, aligned roughly north-west by south-east situated at the south-western end of the farm.
