Greenaway dates back to at least the 12th century. House was probably built as a longhouse in the 1650s on the site of an earlier wood-frame building. Much altered over the years, but the character of the original longhouse can still be seen.
Three splendid old barns; one of which appears to have been occupied until recently, containing a fireplace and what might have been space for a stairwell. Details of ownership from the end of 16th century through to present provided.
Farm had some unusual field names in the late 19th century, including North and South Wales, North and South Ireland, Cherry Park, Great Meadow, Middle Close, Mousey Field and Rixey Meadow. The names were intended to make clear to workers which area was being referred to. Often the names of other countries were used for fields to indicate they were some distance from the farm.

Ordnance Survey, 2015, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV357601.

Greenway is depicted on the modern mapping.
