Farmstead dates to at least the early 14th century, based on documentary evidence. Layout has changed since the 19th century map depictions, although the main buildings have been retained, although some alterations noted. Included in Dartmoor Historic farmstead survey; visited in 1995.

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Layout of the farms (Higher Bennah) as depicted on the Tithe Map shows the dwelling with irregular farm buildings to the north and additional structures adjoining to the west. Lower Bennah is located to the north-east, while Middle Bennah is to the south.

(Visited 27/04/1995) SX 834 845. Bennah Farmstead included in survey. Seven buildings recorded including 17th century farmhouse, two linhays, two barns a shippon and a pighouse.
